ATLANTA (AP) -- There's no shortage of drama for the Southeastern Conference championship game, even though the NCAA removed any doubt about Cam Newton's playing status.

The No. 2 Tigers (12-0) can lock up a spot in the national title game with a win Saturday over South Carolina (9-3). If they stumble, No. 3 TCU would likely get to play for the championship.

Don't overlook No. 18 South Carolina, which is coached by a guy who knows a thing or two about winning SEC titles. Steve Spurrier captured six conference championships at Florida. Now he's got the Gamecocks one win away from their first SEC title.

To do that, they'll have to stop Newton, who was cleared to play by the NCAA even though his father solicited illegal recruiting payments.
