PARIS (AP) — A French newspaper says U.S. investigators are meeting with police officials as part of their probe into allegations of doping by Lance Armstrong and other cyclists.

The website of sports daily L'Equipe says Wednesday's meeting at Interpol headquarters follows talks Tuesday between U.S. Food and Drug Administration Agent Jeff Novitzky and French anti-doping officials.

L'Equipe says Wednesday's discussions in Lyon are to include Novitzky's team and police officers investigating doping in sports in France. The talks are reportedly centered on a case dating to the 2009 Tour de France, when Armstrong was riding for Astana and former teammate Alberto Contador won the race.

Officials opened an investigation after the discovery of suspicious syringes during the race.
