ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Bills rookie running back C.J. Spiller injured a hamstring in the second quarter against the Lions and will not return to the game.

The first-round draft pick was hurt after he ran 29 yards on a punt return with 9 1/2 minutes left in the second quarter. He was hit by Detroit's Vinny Ciurciu along the sideline.

Spiller was returning punts in place of Roscoe Parrish, who broke his wrist last week against Chicago.

Leodis McKelvin moved in to return punts in Spiller's absence.
