GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida receiver Chris Rainey, dismissed from the team earlier this season, could be back on the field next week against Georgia.

Coach Urban Meyer says Rainey is eligible to play, but adds that the junior's status won't be determined until next week.

Meyer partially reinstated Rainey last week, a month after he was arrested on an aggravated stalking charge. Rainey sent a threatening text message to a former girlfriend. Meyer dismissed him from the team the next day, saying Rainey violated the program's core value regarding violence against women.

Rainey agreed to a plea deal three weeks ago on a misdemeanor charge. If he stays out of trouble for six months, the charge will be dismissed.
