CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- C.J. Spiller doesn't only want to be part of the on field ceremony to retire his jersey this weekend at Clemson.

He also wants to take the Tiger walk through the fans into the stadium and run down the hill at Death Valley with the rest of the team just before kickoff.

But Spiller can't fulfill coach Dabo Swinney's biggest desire for perhaps his favorite recruit he's ever brought to Clemson.

He won't be able to put on his No. 28 and run, catch passes and return kicks for the Tigers, who hope to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday against Maryland.

Spiller rewrote the Tigers' record book from 2006 to 2009, breaking 33 school records, including scoring 51 touchdowns. Seven of them came on kickoff returns, an NCAA record.
