LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Cameron Jones connected with Mario Scott for the first and last scores of the game as Virginia Military Institute defeated Presbyterian 24-13 in a Big South conference opener on Saturday.

On VMI's opening drive, Jones hit Scott on a 7-yard touchdown pass for a 7-0 lead.

Jeff Sexton added a 38-yard field goal for the Keydets before defensive back Antarius Terrell returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown as the Blue Hose (0-5, 0-1) cut VMI's lead to 10-7.

Presbyterian's Cam Miller tied the score with a 42-yard field goal, but a 1-yard touchdown run by Chaz Jones gave VMI a 17-10 halftime lead.

Miller's 23-yard field goal in the fourth quarter pulled the Blue Hose to within four points, 17-13.
