TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Towson hangs on in fifth overtime to beat Coastal Carolina 47-45 on Saturday night as Jordan Dangerfield blocks a two-point conversion.
Coastal Carolina running back Eric O'Neal scored on a 5-yard run in the final overtime period. The Chanticleers tried to send the game into another overtime, but Zach MacDowall's pass was deflected by Dangerfield to seal the win.
The Tigers (1-1) trailed 21-7 in the fourth quarter, before two touchdown passes by Chris Hart.
Hart found James Oboh for a 2-yard score with 9:40 left in regulation, and then connected on another 2-yard TD to Tom Ryan with 3:54 left.
Hart had 155 yards on 13 of 21 passes, along with 79 yards on 22 carries. Tremayne Dameron added 107 yards on 29 carries for the Tigers.
O'Neal rushed for 69 yards on 19 carries and had six catches for 38 yards and a touchdown for Coastal Carolina (0-2).
