COLUMBIA (WACH) - Gamecocks outfielder Whit Merrifield agreed to terms with the Kansas City Royals. The Royals drafted Merrifield in the 9th round of the major league draft last month.
Merrifield hit the game winning RBI against UCLA in an extra innings game that sealed South Carolina's first national championship in baseball.
Merrifield finished the season with 13 home runs and 42 RBI. He also set the school record for consecutive games with a hit this season.
