A solo home run by David Phillips in the top of the seventh inning propelled the Ole Miss Rebels to a 5-4 win over South Carolina.  The Gamecocks still clinched the season series.

Both teams traded runs most of the way through, but there was also some drama off the field.

USC Pitching Coach Mark Calvi was ejected in the third inning after heckling the home plate umpire about his strike zone.

South Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the third on a Scott Wingo solo home run to right-center field.  Adam Matthews extended that lead to 2-0 on a solo blast to left field.

The Rebels did most of their damage in the 5th inning, including a two-run homer by Matt Smith with 2 outs off starter Jay Brown.

Ole Miss relievers Matt Tracy and Brett Huber combined to allow only two Gamecock hits in the last 4 2/3 innings of play.

The Gamecocks fall to 28-8 overall, 11-4 in the SEC.  South Carolina faces USC Upstate Tuesday night at Carolina Stadium.
