South Carolina point guard Devan Downey is among 16 finalists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy presented to the nation's top player.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina's Devan Downey is among 16 finalists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy.
The award is presented to the nation's top player by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Downey is on the ballot along with three finalists from last year in Sherron Collins of Kansas, Luke Harangody of Notre Dame and Evan Turner of Ohio State.
Downey is among three finalists from the Southeastern Conference. The others are Kentucky freshmen DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall.
The winner will be announced April 2 during Final Four weekend in Indianapolis.
Downey leads the SEC in scoring at 22.8 points a game for South Carolina (14-10, 5-5).
