South Carolina point guard Devan Downey rolled his anke in practice earlier this week and was held out of practice Tuesday. The SEC's leading scorer is expected to play Wednesday against Florida.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina point guard Devan Downey rolled his ankle during a recent practice, but is expected to play against Florida.
Downey was kept out of practice Tuesday and wore a special boot as a precaution. The Gamecocks face Florida on Wednesday.
Downey is averaging 30.9 points in the Gamecocks' eight Southeastern Conference games and scored 36 in a 58-56 loss to the Gators last month.
The senior has had to carry much of the load for South Carolina after the team lost Dominique Archie with a knee injury and Mike Holmes because of violations of team rules early in the season.
