South Carolina football recruit Victor Hampton was arrested Friday and charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol.
COLUMBIA (WACH)-- A South Carolina football recruit has been arrested and charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol.
Hampton was arrested Friday at Darlington High School and booked into the Darlington County jail. Jail records indicate Hampton posted a small bond and was released Friday evening.
The 17-year-old Hampton signed with the Gamecocks Wednesday on national signing day. Hampton played his senior season at Darlington High. He had played at Independence High in Charlotte, N.C., but left the team over the summer.
South Carolina athletics spokesman Steve Fink said he had not spoken with USC head coach Steve Spurrier about Hampton's arrest.
