COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Devan Downey doesn't have a catchy nickname or a group of McDonald's All-Americans around him.
Yet, South Carolina's senior star is scoring points at a rate not seen in the Southeastern Conference since "Pistol" Pete Maravich four decades ago.
Downey has averaged nearly 32 points since SEC play began, going for 30 or more in five of South Carolina's seven league games. And he's done it without a lot of help. South Carolina's next two top scorers, Dominique Archie and Mike Holmes, haven't played since November.
No SEC opponent, including then-undefeated and top-ranked Kentucky, has been able to slow Downey's amazing run.
