Columbia, S.C. - South Carolina used a solid defensive effort to cruise past Wake Forest 62-52 Thursday night at the Colonial Life Arena.
Sophomore guard La'Keisha Sutton scored a game-high 18 points, and limited the Demon Deacons' leading scorer, Brittany Waters, to just two points, setting the tone for the Gamecocks' best team defensive game of the season. South Carolina held Wake Forest to 29 percent shooting from the field.
Gamecock freshman Kelsey Bone grabbed 13 rebounds and added 11 points.
The Gamecocks have one more game before Christmas. They square off against ninth-ranked North Carolina Sunday, December 20 at 3 pm at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
