COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier won't let his past success at No. 1 Florida get in the way of stopping his alma mater this week.

Spurrier says he doesn't get caught up in any emotion at facing the Gators, where he won a Heisman Trophy as their quarterback and a national title as their coach.  These days, Spurrier says he's all about helping the Gamecocks (6-4, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) upset Florida (9-0, 7-0), which is seeking its first perfect regular season in SEC play since Spurrier's team did it 13 years ago.

Florida coach Urban Meyer says Spurrier's legacy is linked to his Gators past, no matter what success he achieves with the Gamecocks.
