LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Cristiano Ronaldo will travel to Portugal to have his injured ankle examined by the team's doctors.

Real Madrid has protested the Portuguese Football Federation's decision to call up the winger for the World Cup playoff against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday.

But the Spanish club said Tuesday on its Web site that Ronaldo will make the trip "in the next few hours."

The federation expects other players from Spanish clubs to travel to Portugal on Wednesday, after Tuesday's Copa del Rey matches.

Portugal plays at Zenica in Bosnia on Nov. 18 with a place in next year's tournament in South Africa on the line.

Ronaldo was hurt Sept. 30 and aggravated the injury on Oct. 10 while playing for Portugal. He hasn't played since.
