NEW YORK (AP) — Brett Favre is about to break his silence on whether he'll play next season.

The quarterback is to appear Monday night on the premiere of Joe Buck Live. The HBO sports show is hosted by the longtime baseball and football announcer.

HBO says Favre agreed in April to appear on the show at Buck's request. That was before his release from the New York Jets, prompting Minnesota's pursuit of the 39-year-old three-time NFL MVP.

Favre has been assessing the condition of his arm and whether he is interested in coming out of retirement for a second straight year.
