DURHAM, N.C (AP) -- Steven Proscia hit a game-tying triple in the fifth inning and came around to score the go-ahead run on an error, lifting Virginia past Clemson 6-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament Thursday night.
John Hicks homered and had two RBIs for the sixth-seeded Cavaliers (40-12-1). They trailed 4-0 after three innings and were down 5-2 through four before their four-run fifth.
Hicks led off Virginia's big inning with a homer that hit the Durham Bulls' famous bull sign in left field. Dan Grovatt had an RBI single, and scored the tying run when Proscia tripled to left-center field and came around to score on Tyler Cannon's miscue.
Wilson Boyd drove in two runs for third-seeded Clemson (39-18), which plays Duke on Friday while Virginia faces North Carolina.
