Suns star Stoudemire out after eye surgery

PHOENIX (AP) — The Phoenix Suns say star forward Amare Stoudemire will be out about eight weeks after eye surgery.

The surgery to repair a partially detached retina in Stoudemire's right eye was performed Friday morning. Suns general manager Steve Kerr says the long-term prognosis is excellent and he should have 100 percent recovery of his vision.

Stoudemire is the Suns' leading scorer for the third year in a row and is averaging 21.4 point and 8.1 rebounds per game this season. He started for the Western Conference in last weekend's NBA All-Star game.
