CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson running back C.J. Spiller says he might pass on the NFL draft next spring if he can spend his senior year playing for coach Dabo Swinney.

Swinney was named interim coach earlier this month after Tommy Bowden stepped down. Spiller told the Greenville News he would lean toward returning if Swinney is given the job permanently.

Spiller says he enjoyed playing for Bowden and he was a big factor in his decision to go to Clemson. Spiller says Swinney recruited him and is the same type of person as Bowden.

Spiller says he'll sit down with whoever Clemson's coach is next winter to discuss his options.

Spiller missed last week's 21-17 loss to Georgia Tech recovering from a pulled hamstring. He expects to return for the Tigers' next game at Boston College on Nov. 1.
