COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus will have to give up a month's salary worth nearly $14,600 as punishment for his arrest last month after a police officer says he saw Mangus urinating in the street.

Athletic Director Eric Hyman announced the punishment Tuesday, a day after Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier welcomed Mangus back to the team following his suspension after last week's arrest for nuisance conduct in Greenville.

Hyman says Mangus is on probation for the rest of his career at South Carolina and won't be eligible for any bonus money or a raise for the next year.

Mangus was in Greenville last week to attend a gathering of high school coaches. The Greenville Police Department report said Mangus was unsteady on his feet and slurring his words.
