COLUMBIA (WACH)- Liberty scored twice in the fourth inning to salvage a game in the series with No. 5 South Carolina Sunday 3-2 at Carolina Stadium.  The Gamecocks finish the weekend 2-1 overall.

The Flames broke a 1-1 tie when Justin Sizemore hit a solo home run off of Gamecock starter Nolan Belcher.  Liberty added another run when Dalton Britt tripled to score Trey Wimmer.

USC made it one run game in the sixth when Erik Payne lifted a sacrifice fly to score Joey Pankake.  The Gamecocks threatened in the seventh, but a strikeout and put out ended the inning.

The Gamecocks return to action next weekend when they host Albany.  Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
