COLUMBIA (WACH)- Just when you think the Gamecocks are out of a game, they stun you once again.  No. 5 USC erased a seven run deficit in the final two innings to defeat Liberty 8-7 in the first of a doubleheader Sunday at Carolina Stadium.

Pinch-hitter Kyle Martin laced an RBI single off of Flames pitcher Josh Richardson that scored Shon Carson and Graham Saiko to cap a five-run ninth inning.

USC fell behind 7-0 in the seventh inning after costly errors.  The Gamecocks appeared to be out of a jam when Adam Westmoreland got Nick Paxton to ground to short, but Joey Pankake let the ball get under his glove and scored another run for Liberty. That set up Ryan Cordell who cleared the bases with a double to left to plate three more runs.

USC got three of their own back in the eighth, then Martin delivered in the ninth.
