COLUMBIA, S.C (WACH). - The South Carolina women’s basketball rallied back from 14 points down at halftime to beat Drexel 58-55 in overtime Wednesday night.

After trailing for nearly the entire game, senior Sancheon White hit a 3-pointer to tie the score with just over a minute to play forcing overtime.

Ashley Bruner hit the only basket of the extra frame, giving South Carolina the go-ahead points. The Gamecocks are now 8-0 on the season, which is the program’s best start since the 2002-03 season.

"That was a pretty good second half.  I thought our players grew up," said coach Dawn Staley. "I thought our players really mentally and physically were in tune in the second half.  They were chipping away at that lead and fortunately for us we came up with some big plays."

The No. 24 Gamecocks play again at Seton Hall on December 2.
