COLUMBIA (WACH)-  In what was supposed to be latest "Game of the Century", South Carolina shellacked Georgia, 35-7.

South Carolina's fans were the real winners.  It was a day in which Gamecock Nation was the center of the college football universe, with GameDay host Lee Corso donning Cocky's head on the ESPN broadcast from the USC campus. The victory will certainly push Carolina into a national top five ranking.

The game earned Steve Spurrier his 250th career head coaching victory, and South Carolina showed its dominance over its border rival.

"This was a special one.  Beating them for our tenth in a row. A school that used to own us, but they can't say they own us anymore."

Jadeveon Clowney said of the defensive performance, "We said we're gonna keep their offense off us off the field, keep us fresh, three and out everytime, we can't lose if the we don't let the offense score."

That philosophy allowed South Carolina one of its most dominate outings in the Steve Spurrier era.   The Gamecocks held Georgia scoreless until the late fourth quarter.

"Our fans had paid their dues and they need something in return. Hopefully they are getting something in return now that we're able to win at home and win some big games against big teams."

Connor Shaw said giving the fans a win over a top ten rival means, "I'd say this is the greatest atmosphere I've ever played in. I saw a tweet from (College GameDay analyst) Kirk Herbstreit saying College GameDay at the Horseshoe this morning was one greatest he's ever been a part of and I'm very thankful to our fans."
