IRMO, SC (WACH) -- A community is upset about a fire that destroyed a neighborhood playground.

According to firefighters, the property caught on fire around 5 0' clock Saturday evening.

There were no injuries in the incident and the cause of the fire is uncertain, but the result of the crime has children feeling burned.

"First of all, my sister is really disappointed and so am I because it was fun," said Elijah Caligiuri.

Elijah and his family live nearby and enjoy visiting the park for exercise.

The 11-year-old's mother, Angela Bernardo said that she is disturbed about the news and is hopeful that the park will be rebuilt.

"It was a nice playground to bring the little ones and we didn't have to worry about them too much," said Bernardo.

Bernardo and several other families are optimistic that the playground will be rebuilt.
