Dantzler powers USC past Davidson

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - South Carollina's LB Dantzler homered twice for the first time in his career and drove in a career-high six runs as the No. 5 Gamecocks beat Davidson 12-4 Wednesday evening at Carolina Stadium.

The Gamecocks improve to 15-2 while Davidson dropped to 6-8 on the season.

Dantzler crushed a two-run homer in the first inning and added a three-run blast in the sixth inning. He has a team-leading six home runs this season.

South Carolina freshman reliever Curt Britt earned his first career win and is 1-0 on the year. He worked two perfect innings and retired all six batters he faced.

South Carolina starter Joel Seddon was solid in his first start of the season. The sophomore from Michigan worked four scoreless innings, struck out a career-high six batters and allowed just two hits.

The Gamecocks begin SEC play Friday at Missouri. First pitch for the series opener is set Friday at 7pm. Saturdays game s scheduled for 3pm, with Sunday's series finale set for 2 pm.
