Pankake stays hot in Gamecocks sweep over Rider

COLUMBIA (WACH)- Joey Pankake hit his fourth homer in five games, and starter Nolan Belcher and Tyler Webb combined to shut out Rider 1-0 on Sunday completing the sweep at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks improve to 13-2 overall on the season.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Pankake blasted a solo shot to left giving the Gamecocks their only run of the game.

Belcher (3-1) continued his success on the mound throwing seven innings, striking out seven and giving up no runs.  Belcher has thrown 18 consecutive scoreless innings.

The Gamecocks are back to action Tuesday night when they host USC Upstate. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
