RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) -- One man is dead after a crash in Richland County early Saturday morning.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says around 4 a.m., a driver traveling south on Farrow Road in Blythewood lost control of his automobile; hitting a utility pole and a tree. Troopers say the vehicle was speeding before the crash; and that the driver did not wear a seatbelt.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the driver as Jacob Henry Woo, 27, of Columbia. He was the only one in the vehicle and died at the scene.

Troopers shut down Farrow Road because of downed power lines; but the road is now open.

The crash is still under investigation.
