COLUMBIA (WACH) - Columbia police officials have arrested a man accused of sexually molesting young girls in the Midlands.

According to the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office, Charles Richard Bradberry, 33, was arrested by Columbia police officials on Monday. He is facing criminal sexual conduct charges filed by the Columbia Police Department.

Authorities say Bradberry is accused of molesting at least two girls under the age of 15 in Columbia and in Kershaw County.

One girl has been taken into protective custody by the Department of Social Services in Richland County, according to Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews.

The Kershaw County incident report states Bradberry was arrested after investigators with the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office conducted forensic interviews on the girls. The Columbia Police Department was involved in one of the interviews and made the arrest on charges "stemming from the assaults that occurred in Columbia."

Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott says Bradberry is accused of coercing two girls, ages 10 and 14, to perform a sex act on him at an apartment complex in Columbia. He is also accused of taking pictures of the sex acts.

Matthews says Bradberry has previously been arrested for criminal domestic violence, kidnapping, violation of restraining order, criminal domestic violence high and aggravated, violation of protective order and filing a false police report. He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, suspended on service of 3 years with 5 years of probation in 2007.

The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of placing a hold on Bradberry on criminal sexual conduct charges.

Bradberry was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

According to Matthews and Scott, Bradberry may have molested young girls in Kershaw County, Columbia  and possibly elsewhere. Both are asking any potential victims in Kershaw County to contact the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office at 425-1512 or in Columbia to contact the Columbia Police Department at 545-3500.
