COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - A Cayce family man and popular social media developer has died.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says 44-year-old Jerry R. Stilwell, Jr. suffered an unnamed medical event before crashing his Mini Cooper on Farrow Road.

According to Lance Corporal Brent Kelly of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, just after eight Friday morning Stilwell ran off the road, driving his Mini Cooper through the median and hitting a Honda minivan. Stilwell continued off the roadway crashing into an embankment.

The minivan was struck on the passengers side and the driver was not injured.

Stilwell was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An active member of the Midlands community, Stilwell especially connected with others through social media outlets. While many friends and followers had never met him personally, they knew him through his social sharing under the pseudonym @RickCaffeinated.

Several Midlands organizations have turned to social media Friday to share their condolences:

@LizardsThicket: Sending thoughts & prayers to @MrsCaffeinated & family. @rickcaffeinated was a wonderful man!

@scartscomm: We already miss him. RT @nicktheatre: Our thoughts and prayers go out to @MrsCaffeinated and the loss of her husband @RickCaffeinated

On Instagram, a social photo sharing application, Stilwell described himself as a husband, dad, coffee connoisseur, Mini Cooper driver, social media hack, movie watcher, book reader, foodie, and iPhone addict.
