ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- Bamberg County administrator Joey Preston is being sued by American Express for more than $255,000.

The lawsuit says Joey Preston owes the money for an unpaid balance on a business credit card.

The complaint was filed in Anderson earlier this week. Preston is the former administrator in Anderson County.

Preston says a series of legal issues he has had in recent years has made it hard for him to meet his financial obligations. But he says he is working to do so.

American Express says Preston has received "unjust enrichment" and accuses him of breaching a contract.

The complaint was brought against Preston and a business called Preston Enterprises. The nature of the business and Preston's affiliation with it are not described in the complaint.
