COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - University of South Carolina quarterback Tanner McEvoy has left the team and will seek a transfer to another school according to coach Steve Spurrier.

McEvoy was recently suspended from the team after being charged in North Carolina with speeding and driving after consuming alcohol under the age of 21.

"The Gamecock coaching staff and I wish Tanner all the best, as he continues his collegiate career elsewhere," said Coach Spurrier.

McEvoy, a 6-6, 209-pound redshirt freshman quarterback from New Jersey was listed on the fourth-team entering the fall.

The quarterback was reinstated to the team last week following his arrest. He did not attend practiceTuesday morning.
