COLUMBIA - Reptar, the popular pet fish of South Carolina third baseman L.B. Dantzler, has died.

Dantzler tweeted the news Thursday night.

Reptar accompanied Dantzler and the Gamecocks on road trips throughout the 2012 season, including the College World Series. Reptar was the inspiration for the slogan "Fear the Fish", which Gamecock players and fans adopted for this past season.
