FRESNO, CA (WACH) - Nnemkadi Ogwumike scored 39 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lift Stanford into the NCAA women's Elite 8 with a 76-60 victory Saturday over South Carolina.
The Gamecocks had no answer for Ogwumike, who was 14-for-22 from the field. USC, led by La'Keisha Sutton's 18 points, finishes the season at 25-10. It was the program's first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2002.
The Cardinal took a 36-30 halftime lead thanks to a buzzer-beating desperation heave by Joslyn Tinkle. It was the only three-pointer of the game for Stanford. USC got to within three points in the second half, but could not find an answer for Ogwumike, the two-time Pac-12 player of the year.
Stanford (34-1) will play Duke on Monday for a trip to the Final Four.
