COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina's Ray Tanner was named the national coach of the year by Diamond/American Baseball Coaches Association.

Tanner led the Gamecocks to their second straight College World Series championship. It's the third year Tanner has earned national coach of the year honors. He received the award from Baseball America in 2000 and from Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball in 2010.

Tanner has coached at South Carolina for 15 seasons, and has taken the Gamecocks to the CWS five times. South Carolina was undefeated in its last trip to Omaha and has won a record 11 straight CWS games.

South Carolina defeated Southeastern Conference rival Florida in the best-of-3 championship series to win the title.
