HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says he's talked with Stephen Garcia and that the suspended quarterback's future with the Gamecocks will be decided this summer.
Spurrier discussed Garcia's situation briefly Wednesday before taking part in a pro-am at the Heritage with two-time champion Boo Weekley. Spurrier says he, athletic director Eric Hyman and university President Harris Pastides will have input to Garcia's situation.
Garcia is on track to graduate next month. He was suspended earlier this month for "unacceptable behavior" by a student-athlete.
If the quarterback returns, Spurrier hopes it is with a better attitude than he's ever shown with the Gamecocks.
Freshman Connor Shaw would be the starting quarterback if Garcia does not return.
