Newberry College Wolves drop season finale to Wingate, 49-33

Newberry ends its season at 4-6 overall and 3-4 in South Atlantic Conference play, while Wingate earned its first-ever outright SAC title at 8-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Wingate now awaits the announcement of the NCAA Division II palyoff field on Sunday afternoon.

Newberry senior wide receiver David Pressley set a new school mark for receiving yards in a season, but five touchdown passes from Wingate quarterback Cody Haffly and four interceptions thrown by Newberry quarterbacks gave the visiting Bulldogs a 49-33 win at Setzler Field in the regular season finale Saturday.
