South Carolina won its second straight national championship with a 5-2 victory Tuesday night over Florida in the College World Series finals. The Gamecocks' streaks of 16 NCAA tournament wins and 11 straight in the CWS are both the longest all-time. Fans are invited to a celebration party at Colonial Life Arena Wednesday. Doors open at 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

South Carolina and Clemson have been selected to host an NCAA regional when the post season gets underway next weekend. The Gamecocks open the regional against Georgia Southern. Carolina Stadium will also play host to NC State and Stetson. Clemson faces Sacred Heart, Coastal Carolina and Connecticut.

Clemson will play one of its most difficult schedules in history in 2011, according the slate of games announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday. Ten of Clemson’s 11 FBS opponents went to bowl games last year, including six who won at least nine games in 2010. Additionally, Wofford, Clemson’s FBS opponent, was 10-3 and reached the second round of the NCAA playoffs.

Thirty-two home games, 24 games against 2010 NCAA Tournament teams, and four games at Fluor Field in Greenville, SC highlight Clemson’s 55-game, 2011 regular-season baseball schedule, released Friday. The Tigers will also play South Carolina in a three-game series at three different sites over one weekend during the first weekend of March.
