COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Columbia Police Department released surveillance pictures from an armed robbery that occurred at a pharmacy Monday night, hoping someone may recognize the suspect.
The man is accused of robbing the Rite Aid store located at 1501 Broad River Road at approximately 6 p.m. Monday.
Police say the suspect approached the pharmacy counter and demanded several controlled substances from the pharmacist.
Witnesses told police that the man lifted his sweatshirt to show what appeared to be a handgun tucked in his waistband. The pharmacist complied and no one was physically injured.
The robber is described as a white male, last seen wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt with the words “Appalachian State” embroidered in yellow or gold on the front, blue jeans, clear latex gloves, a light-colored baseball cap, and a surgical mask partially covering his face.
