Columbia, SC (WACH)--The Columbia Convention Center was full of cheering Saturday.
The eighth annual Ultimate Cheerleading Federation's National Championship is being held this weekend. About 70 teams from all over the southeast are in town.
The competition features teams between five years old up to college aged participants. There is also a wide range of difficulty levels. The combined scores from both days will determine the winners on Sunday.
Ultimate Cheerleading Federation Owner Randy Dickey said like any other sport, cheerleading teaches a lot to children.
"It teaches you life lessons," Dickey said. "It teaches you accountability. It teaches you that there are other people that rely on you to do your job. Cause they can't do their job if you don't do yours. It is a good life skill for kids to learn about the real world , and how people work together to get things done."
