COLUMBIA (WACH) - USC students and alumni got some much needed help finding a job Wednesday afternoon.
The school's career center hosted a job fair. More than 150 employers were on hand looking for new full time employees and also taking applications for internships. Hundreds of people took advantage of the event held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Some of the companies plan on interviewing their prospects as early as tomorrow.
“We went through this economic downturn where the perception was there weren't any jobs at all, but that wasn't the reality. It was a tough job market; it continues to be a challenging job market so we have to have a highly visible event to get the students attention and the alumni's attention and demonstrate to them that there are employers who want to hire them,” said Tom Halasz, director of the USC Career Center.
The career center will hold its next big event sometime near the beginning of the next year.
