Teen arrested in Columbia burglary, armed robbery

COLUMBIA (WACH) - A teenager accused of breaking into a home and robbing a mother and her thre children at gunpoint has been arrested, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Chief Randy Scott says Lorenzo Bernard Young, 18, is charged with third degree burglary, three counts of armed robbery, thre counts of kidnapping, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and criminal conspiracy.

Young and two unidentified men are accused of forcing their way into a home on Lester Drive on July 6, police said.

According to Scott, Young and the other men are also accused of forcing the victims, a mother and her three children ranging in age from 15 to 17 years old, into various rooms of the home at gunpoint.

Police say the suspects stole around $1,900 worth of electronics from the home includeing a televsion. The victims were not physically harmed.
