COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH, AP) -- Direct marketing company Red Ventures is expanding in Lancaster County and expects to add 1,000 employees over the next five years.

The company announced Tuesday it has nearly doubled its property at its Indian Land headquarters and expects to start construction on its third building by year's end.

“We are thrilled to be able to add this adjacent land to our campus. The next few years will be full of challenges and opportunities and we are hoping to double the size of our current workforce,” said Red Ventures CEO Ric Elias. “This additional land will allow us to grow, while also maintaining the unique, employee-friendly environment we’ve created.”

The company is expanding from 17 acres to 33 acres in Indian Land, an unincorporated area of Lancaster County just south of Charlotte, N.C.

Red Ventures employed 300 people when it moved to South Carolina in 2009 and now employs nearly 1,000. The company employs a total of 1,500 nationwide.

The high-tech company helps a business grow through a combination of online marketing, telephone sales and technology infrastructure.

“South Carolina continues to be the place where companies can prosper, and Red Ventures’ announcement today in Indian Land is another indication of that. We look forward to the company’s continued growth in our state,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

It expects to grow by 30 percent in 2012.
