ORANGEBURG, SC (WACH) - The death of a man outside of a Santee gentlemen's club is being investigated by the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says the death of a 53-year-old Vance man is in the initial stages of investigation.

According to Ravenell, the man died after being escorted out of the Santee Gentlemen's Club on Bass Drive for being disruptive. The man pulled a gun on the security guards once they were outside the club. The guards fought the man for the weapon, which is when the gun fired. A 19-year-old security guard was shot in the hip. He was treated for the injury. A 22-year-old security guard was not injured.

Authorities say the 54-year-old man was struck during the fight, fell to the ground and never got back up.

"We are analyzing forensic evidence and awaiting autopsy results to determine cause of death and the timeline of events," said Ravenell.
