WALHALLA, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say one of two inmates who escaped from the Anderson County jail by chiseling away concrete blocks in their cell has been recaptured.

Oconee County deputies said 28-year-old Travis Foster was found Tuesday after someone reported a suspicious man on a road near Seneca. Authorities say he is back in the Anderson County jail.

Investigators say 35-year-old Jason Hughes remains on the loose.

Authorities say the men were able to chisel out the mortar around the concrete blocks of their 50-year-old cell. They then climbed into an office Sunday night, pushed out an air conditioner to make it outside and scaled a fence.

Foster was awaiting trial for two charges of grand larceny, while Hughes was in jail charged with larceny and failure to stop for blue lights.
