COLUMBIA, SC -- A Columbia businessman is one step closer to nationwide publicity; and he is asking for your support.
Mark Plessinger, owner of Frame of Mind on Main St. in Columbia, is a top 20 finalist in this year's "This Is Retail" nationwide video contest. The competition requires contestants to tell their story from a retail point of view in a two minute video.
Plessinger's video is also giving downtown Columbia national recognition. If he advances to the top ten, he will go to Washington D.C. for a chance at $25,000.
He said his video talks about the importance of Main St.
"We bought in big time into Main St. and the belief that if you have a healthy Main St., you have a healthy city. What we actually say in the video is the power of a small, socially conscious business and how it can impact a community, a city, and a region.
If Plessinger wins the contest, he said much of the money will be re-invested back into Main St. businesses and programs like First Thursday Art Walk.
Voting for the next round continues until Sunday. If you would like to vote, visit www.retailmeansjobs.com/thisisretail/matchup/9
Voters can vote up to 10 times a day.
