LEXINGTON, SC (WACH) - A Columbia man was arrested after two vacant homes in Lexington were broken into three weeks ago.

Deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department arrested Craig Cory Cooper, 42, on burglary charges on March 16.

According to arrest warrants, Cooper broke into the first home on Castlefield Drive on March 1 by kicking the front door open.

Sheriff James Metts says Cooper broke into the home with the intent to steal an oven.

Cooper is also accused of breaking into a home on Greenstone Way. A witness told deputies a man matching Cooper's description was seen stealing an oven from the home, which he loaded into a tan Dodge Nitro.

Detectives found a list that Cooper was carrying that included both Lexington homes with a line drawn through the street address for each residence.

Cooper was released from the Lexington County Dention Center on Tuesday.

The case remains under investigation.
