LUGOFF, S.C. (WACH) - An accused internet sexual predator was arrested in Kershaw County Thursday morning.

Kershaw County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested 38-year-old Isaac Claude Flynn on a warrant charging him with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, giving obscene material to a minor, and criminal solicitation of a minor.

Flynn is accused of arriving at a location in Lugoff, SC with the intent to have sex with a young girl he believed to be 14 years old.

Kershaw County investigators have been investigating Flynn since February after receiving information that he had travelled to Kershaw County from North Carolina to have sex with at 15-year-old girl last December through January of this year.

Investigators began communicating with Flynn online and on the telephone, portraying themselves as a 14-year-old girl.

According to deputies, Flynn was very explicit in his phone communications. He arranged to travel again to Kershaw to engage in sexual relations with the teen.

Sheriff Jim Matthews says Flynn arrived at the location where he was supposed to meet the girl around 9:30 a.m. Thursday and was arrested.

“We are now active members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) network and we wanted to make sure we did this the correct way so there would be no problems with the prosecution of this case. As far as I know this is the first time the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office has arrested anyone who travelled from out of state to Kershaw County, after soliciting a Kershaw County child for sex. This kind of criminal behavior is especially troubling as so many young people utilize the internet and social networking sites to talk with people they think are also young people. Unfortunately, sick perverted people disguise themselves as young people and set up illicit meetings in order to engage in sexual activity with these young kids. Not only is it perverted, it is very dangerous and we will do all we can to protect our children from these predators,” said Matthews.

Matthews expects other charges to follow the initial charges.

Flynn is being held in the Kershaw County Detention Center. Bond has not been set.
