COLUMBIA (WACH) - A state constable was arrested Tuesday on weapons charges in Columbia.
Around 3 a.m. Tuesday, an officer saw a black Toyota pick-up truck parked near Latonea Drive and Lawand Drive with no exterior lights on. The officer attempted to make contact with the vehicle due to reported recent criminal activity in the area.
According to the incident report, the deputy saw Errol G. Rochester, Jr., 36, adjusting his waistline, and the passenger, 40-year-old Dani Lyn Sanders, had her pants unbottoned and partially down.
Sanders is known by Richland County Sheriff's Department as a "local prostitute who routinely has narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia in her possession."
Sanders admitted to having a crack pipe in her possession, which deputies confiscated.
A search of Rochester's vehicle found a concealed weapons identification card, a South Carolina state constables badge, and a loaded .40 caliber Glock pistol.
Rochester is charged with unlawful carry and violation of issuances of permits. Rochester's badge and weapons were confiscated, and he was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Sanders was not charged and released.
